MUSC’s Dr. Megan Baker Talks to the Post and Courier About Breast Cancer and Fertility

Dr. Megan Baker, Medical Director of MUSC Hollings Cancer Center’s Comprehensive Breast Care Program, was interviewed by the Post and Courier on how breast cancer treatments can affect a woman’s fertility.

Chemotherapy can sometimes cause the onset of menopause – even in younger women. In cases where a breast cancer patient hopes to have children in the future, Dr. Baker and her team will work with a fertility specialist to ensure the patient has access to all possible options.

According to Dr. Baker, treatment protocols for breast cancer should focus on the whole patient and their quality of life issues – like fertility – in addition to making them well. Learn more about MUSC’s Comprehensive Breast Care Progam.
