We all know that youth sports are a great way for kids to stay active, make friends, and achieve a healthy lifestyle.
However, it is important as parents, coaches, and health care providers to ensure that our kids stay competitive and healthy. You might be asking yourself, “What is the best way to keep kids competitive and in the game?” Most parents and coaches know the value of a proper warm up and cool down period, resting injured muscles, and drinking water after activity. But what about advice other than the basics?
Do you know the answers to these questions?
- How many pitches are too many in little league?
- Does my daughter need a pre-participation physical every year?
- When can my son go back to play after getting his “bell rung?”
- How common is a sports concussion in youth league?
To provide information and answer these questions and more regarding youth sports safety, Safe Kids Trident Area in coordination with MUSC Sports Medicine, MUSC Children’s Hospital, and MUSC Neurology will be sponsoring a free Sports Safety Seminar. This event will feature sports medicine experts from MUSC and will take place at the Riverdogs Stadium prior to the Riverdogs home game against Savannah, on August 7th at 4 pm. Get important information and ask questions on sports ‘hot topics’ including concussion safety, hydration, overuse injury and pre-participation physical exams (PPE’s).
This free event is open to parents, youth sports coaches, school nurses, school athletic directors, gym teachers, and health care providers. The first 50 registrants will receive a free Riverdogs ticket and can reserve extra tickets at a reduced price! Remember, only the first 50 registrants get a ticket and we anticipate a high turnout – so sign up today!
Registration: Return the Registration Form by Mail or Email to Kristin Greeson BEFORE AUGUST 4th to receive your free Riverdogs ticket
