Michael shares his Scoliosis story

In the spring of 2009 I was diagnosed with Scoliosis by my family doctor. My family doctor sent me to a spine specialist in Beaufort by the name of Jeffery Reuben. Dr Reuben informed me the only option was to have a spinal fusion (Scoliosis Surgery). Dr. Reuben said he could perform the surgery but being it was a pediatric condition he would sent me to Dr. James Mooney of MUSC. Dr. Mooney confirmed me of the surgery. I was scheduled for surgery September 22, 2010. Dr. Mooney said surgery would take six hours, would result in five to seven days in the Hospital and have several risk was included in paralysis. After surgery the soreness was the worst. Its been almost a year since my surgery and although I am still under Dr. James Mooney observation I am doing great and able to live my life to the fullest. Thanks to Dr. James Mooney and the staff at MUSC
