Mr. James Wooten of Hampton Country, a recent MUSC stroke patient, who benefitted from someone calling 9-1-1 shares his story below. Mr. Wooten believes a great response by the local EMS and the excellent capabilities of MUSC’s MEDUCARE and Comprehensive Stroke & Cerebrovascular Center team saved his life.
Only 17.9% of all South Carolinian’s and only 10% of African-American South Carolinians recognize all correct stroke warning signs and would reportedly call 9-1-1 if someone were having a stroke.*
