August 9th was a big day for MUSC Children’s Hospital. It was a true birthday party, complete with a red carpet, cupcakes, birthday hats, and a pet parade. This summer marked the 25th year for MUSC Children’s Hospital. Founded in 1987 by a visionary, Dr. Charles Darby, MUSC Children’s Hospital has provided specialized pediatric care to children across the southeast and beyond. John Sanders, Children’s Hospital Administrator, Dr. Rita Ryan, Chief of Pediatrics, Congressman Tim Scott, patient Amauri Bowen, and LPN Deb Oliver all donned festive hats and spoke or sang at the birthday celebration which lasted an hour and included approximately 100 guests. The highlight of the celebration was a video premiere featuring a Darius Rucker song entitled THIS, showcasing 90 staff members, physicians, patients, and family members letting loose; it was all about the kids. The video was produced in its entirety in-house and MUSC Children’s Hospital has a birthday wish for its 25th, that the video will reach at least 25,000 views.
